Daredevil actor Charlie Cox, who brilliantly plays Gustave in Sandfall Interactive’s breakout RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, says he feels like a “total fraud” when people congratulate him for his contribution to the game.
The turn-based adventure is one of the highest rated games of the year, even attracting attention from French president Emmanuel Macron. The game has since sold an incredible 3.3 million copies in just 33 days.
But speaking at the Washington State Summer Con this weekend, in a clip widely shared on social media, the English star explained that he’s not a gamer and hasn’t even tried the title out yet.
“Apparently the game is awesome. I’ve no idea, I haven’t played it. My agent asked me if I wanted to go and do some voiceover [and] I was in the studio for four hours maybe. People keep saying how amazing it is and congratulating me and I feel like a total fraud.”
Cox went on to say he’s “so thrilled” for the company and he’s ecstatic the game is doing so well.
To be honest, it’s absolutely remarkable that the actor was able to imbue Gustave with such personality during a four hour recording session. We’re not sure whether he’s being humble or not here, but to breathe such life into a character in such a small amount of time makes us think Cox really is deserving of all the praise he’s getting.
But what do you think of Cox’s performance in Expedition 33? Are you shocked he managed to record all of Gustave’s dialogue within a four hour voiceover session? Sound off in the comments section below.
